This is Rigby, a sweet, affectionate and super friendly collie. Rigby loves everyone he meets, and wants to meet everyone! He is gentle with kids, and great with dogs and cats. Rigby walks nicely on leash until he sees a person or dog that he wishes to greet, then he heads toward them forgetting about his handler! This should not be a problem to remedy with positive training methods, he is a smart dog who learns quickly.

RIgby came into our care significantly overweight and with low energy for his age. WCCR completed a full veterinary assessment including blood work, which provided us with a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Fortunately this is an easy medical condition to treat. We immediately started him on thyroid meds and within 3 weeks he began to shed a few pounds and his energy returned to that of a healthy 5 year old collie. He loves going for walks and is out several times daily with his foster ‘Mom’. Rigby will need to be on thyroid meds for his lifetime, which involves 2 pills daily at a monthly cost of ~ $70.
